Recently I was terminated from employment as a telephone salesrepresentative with a large scale cable company after only 6 days oftraining. Although I have a number of years of experience in the callcentre industry,  it was my first time applying for a cable company. During the interview I neglected to consider the moral implications of the content I would be responsible for selling.  When I found outthat I had obtained the job, I was really happy as my city is not aneasy place to find employment and the pay and benefits were good.

Okay so the first (and most important) thing I have to say is that I am a virgin and when I was in my teens it really bugged me. And I mean it really, really, really bugged me. Made my skin crawl, in fact. At my secondary school (high school) the sex ed lessons we had were poor at best but what was so appalling (and infuriates me now) is that it was assumed by most teachers that if we, at the tender age of 15/16, weren't sexually active already we would be pretty soon. Most of my friends had boyfriends but I didn't. There was some underlying peer pressure going on at that time too and, basically, if you hadn't had sex by the time you were 18 you were either a closet homosexual or there's something wrong with you. Not that anyone ever said this to your face, but they made their feelings about you quite clear with strangely probing questions (sounding you out as it were) and then gradual social isolation that was only relaxed when you gained a boyfriend.

I can honestly say that my journey is God’s victory in spite of my best efforts to avoid His love. I had convinced myself that my addiction was part of who I was and that resistance was futile. My prayer was similar to that of St. Augustine’s prior to his conversion: God grant me chastity, but not now. I was so good at rejecting and blocking God’s graces, that I probably should have been a goalie in soccer because of these skills. I feel impelled to share my experience so that others may see how immensely loving and merciful God is.

I remember when I first found your site. I thought oh there might finally be hope. I listened to some audio files and read some of the stories. I remember one of Matts audio files talking about he finally beat the addiction by believing in god and the power of the rosary. Well I first like to say I am 43 married with two children, and have had this addiction most of my life. I am catholic , been baptized, went to catholic school, but never really practiced my faith. It didn’t mean that I didn’t believe in god its just I never talked to him.
